I believe a happy horse performs willingly and beautifully at its peak, and a happy horse is achieved only through understanding and communication. I have spent my career learning from the horse, and teaching riders the lessons these magnificent and gracious animals have taught me. I view my job as a trainer of both horses and of people as making things easy for both partners in the team. There is nothing that gives me more joy than watching both my equine and human clients soar.

Maciek first encountered horses in an unusual setting when a schoolmate in the city where he was born, Krakow, Poland – a country with an acclaimed history of riding excellence – invited him to join her at a summer riding camp. She afterwards lost interest, but Maciek was hooked. That summer began a lifelong love of horses when a trainer at a camp recognised his natural talent and asked him to represent the city of Krakow’s riding school as a teen rider, competing in national championships.
That childhood dream soon blossomed into a career representing Poland as a rider in national and international competition. His passion has since taken him across Europe and North America, pursuing the sport at its highest levels, and also into discovering his love of cultivating young horses, coaxing out their talent, as well as keeping experienced horses fit, supple and rideable for the many owners who entrust him with their top animals. He soon caught the attention of four-time Olympian Ludo Philippaerts, who recruited him to help shape his string of top-flight young horses, entrusting Maciek with competing potential future Olympic prospects.
With a keen knowledge of equine psychology and physiology, Maciek has a special knack and interest in not just training, but encouraging horses of all ages and abilities to maximise their own natural potential and to perform at their peak. Setting out independently, Maciek helped private clients’ horses reach high goals, including training a horse that won team gold in the European Championships.
Through this work, he discovered his love of teaching amateurs and helping them reach their own dreams. Highlights of his career so far include coaching a student all the way to beat almost 300 horses for the top ten spots at the FEI World breeding jumping championships.
As well as being devoted to his clients and horses, Maciek is passionate about always continuing to learn and improve. That commitment has taken him across the Atlantic to the top competitions in the United States where he is an in-demand trainer of horses which he has competed with great success. Second only to his love of horses, is his love for meeting new people, and his passion for his dog Lola, a Jack Russell Terrier with one eye, who sings along to the car radio.
